NIODTA® Associate Background and Requirements

Each trainer is carefully screened for temperament and ability to handle the dogs. Since larger breeds are an inherent part of the dog training program it is important that each trainer has the physical ability to handle the dog and bring the dog to heel. A primary focus of our master trainer is ensuring that all members of NIODTA® understand, conform to and can demonstrate the Instinctive Obedience® methods which are the core of the program.

The certified dog trainer must also have the patience and be able to form an obvious bond with each animal they train. For example, over a short period of time our master trainer should be able to observe the trainee complete the basic tasks with increasing ease. Force is not required to achieve the goal of creating a fully trained dog.

While NIODTA® principles and training may be more rigorous than other training methods, it is important for the success of our future dog trainers and their charges that they complete the course with superior grades.

Instinctive Obedience® principles must be employed throughout the course and demonstrated on a consistent basis. Only then will an affiliate receive certification. Continuous incorporation of best practices, updates, refresher courses and other reviews will be conducted over the course of NIODTA® membership to ensure that the staff and others trained by the affiliate also follow all the rules and guidelines of being an Instinctive Obedience® Trainer.

All companies and NIODTA® Dog Trainers listed here are certified in Instinctive Obedience® training methods. The owners, operators and handlers all completed an extensive course under the direction of our master trainer, Donnie Hult™, Jr – the founder of NIODTA.

No affiliate can claim membership in NIODTA® without finishing the course and demonstrating the incorporation of the Instinctive Obedience™ methods throughout their training regimen.
